WAYMON L BOYD EXPLODES AFTER HITTING GAS PIPE

Aug 2020: Dredger WAYMON L. BOYD caused an explosion and major fire in Corpus Christi Ship Channel, Texas, USA.  The dredger struck an underwater gas pipeline.

4 crew members died in the explosion.

The fire onboard the vessel was first extinguished Friday afternoon, but sparked again and was finally put out at approximately 10 p.m. Friday, shortly before the vessel broke apart and sank, the Coast Guard said.
